Richard Thomas
WSM Traffic Reporter

"We've got one greasy side up on 40 Eastbound..." "It's Friday...the BUSIEST DAY of the WEEK!" And so follows another report on Nashville's frustrating frenetic traffic scene from the town's only airborne traffic reporter, Richard Thomas. When it comes to dependable traffic reporting with know-how and experience, there's only one name that comes to mind - Richard Thomas. Having grown up in Nashville and spending eighteen years as a Metro police officer, Richard is truly an expert on the lay of the land. But it's up in the air that he spends much of his time. Richard has been reporting the traffic for WSM since 1975. Every weekday morning and afternoon, Richard climbs aboard his single engine Citabria, ascends to 1500 feet to get a bird’s eye view of Nashville and the surrounding area and relays what he sees with witty, good-humored commentary. You can bet if there's a traffic tie-up Richard will spot it. He'll get you home safely, laughing all the way!
